Our contribution
Technical and administrative capacity building of community-based organizations (CBOs) for the delivery of agricultural extension services
Component 1: Agricultural training and advisory services
- Contributing to the project’s fields of action 1 – “Agricultural advisory and training on sustainable soil management” (ProSoil) and “The adoption of technical and socio-economic measures related to innovations in agroecology is enhanced” (ProSilience).
- Main activities: i) Capacity building of Community Based Organizations and government extension officers on the provision of agricultural training and advisory services, ii) Provision of agricultural training and advisory services to farmers
Component 2: Contributing to long-term sustainability
- Contributing to the project's fields of action 2 – “Framework conditions for the adoption of sustainable soil management by smallholders” (ProSoil) and “The political and research framework for agroecological transition in Kenya is improved.” (ProSilience).
- Main activities: i) Supporting the organizational development of community resource persons, ii) Supervision of farmer-led research trials and community seedbanks, and iii) Offering carbon rights transfers to small-holder farmers
Component 3: Documenting knowledge and experience
- Contribution to the project's fields of action 3 – "Knowledge transfer" (ProSoil) and "Kenyan stakeholders make use of the co-created knowledge and evidence on agroecology" (ProSilience).
- Main activities: i) Conducting learning events and farmer exchange visits; ii) Contributing to documentation of knowledge and experienced; and iii) Contributing to local exhibitions, agricultural shows and other communication events
