E-learning platform launched in Togo

For months already leaders and administrative staff of municipalities in the Republic of Togo have updated themselves on administration and financial planning standards by way of flexible and self-paced learning. The unprecedented move to empower an entirety of 1,700 community representatives in good practises of decentral governance was made possible through an e-learning platform, set up on behalf of GIZ. The webspace, with seven training modules as an interactive knowledge base, was developed jointly by the consortium of ECO Consult/GOPA and the Republic’s National Training Agency for Local Authorities (ANFCT), just in time for the forthcoming community elections. At the platform’s official launch in Lomé, end of March (photo), the German Embassador to Togo highlighted the consortium's contribution to several phases of successful German-Togolese cooperation in the frame of ProDEC (Good Governance and Decentralisation) Programme, which now comes to its closure. Support for the platform and other significant community development results will be followed up until summer 2026.
