This September, ECO was called to welcome a delegation of policy makers dispatched by the Republic of Cameroon. The regional delegation, one of the partnering institutions to the German-Cameroonian ProPSFE programme implemented by ECO, acquainted themselves with German renewable energy policies. A specific focus was on regulatory initiatives and the management and necessary infrastructure of decentral supplies. The potentials and limits of strategies for a more efficient decentral use of renewables were discussed.

The bilateral ProPSFE programme of the Republic of Cameroon and Germany provides, among others, technical support to optimize wood energy value chains. As a necessary complement to this ECO consultants assist at implementing a master scheme for sustainable wood energy supplies.

For the country this is one important entry point to tie up with international REDD processes (e.g. pilot measures for reducing greenhouse gas emissions).

Proliferation of best practice by way of study tours and workshops has a long tradition in ECO's portfolio. Extension programmes in the area of renewable energy strategies have factually been a core activity since 1992.
