BACCP I implementation prolonged until 2021

2020-08/ ECO Consult will spend another year on safeguarding biological diversity and climate protection goals in Mongolia. This August the Biodiversity and Adaptation to Climate Change (BACCP) project was prolonged into 2021. The Mongolian Ministry of the Environment and Tourism (MET) has implemented the programme since 2015 with support by the Federal Republic of Germany provided through KfW Development Bank. Key tasks are sustainable livelihood promotion for rural communities, operationalisation of a national Buffer Zone Fund, and piloting of measures to improve the connectivity of designated SPAs as well as Local Protected Areas (LPA). Experience and lessons learnt from BACCP I will inform and contribute to the further implementation of BACCP II/III, equally advised by ECO.
